The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants to fill two full-time, 12-month appointments. Depending upon experience, qualifications, and interest, the successful candidate(s) may be appointed to either a tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) or non-tenure track (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in Cardiology.
Qualified applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree, be enrolled in or have completed a cardiology residency training program and have achieved Diplomate status or be eligible to sit for the ACVIM or ECVIM certifying examination at the time employment begins. For a tenure-track position, research experience is desired. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills are required in small group as well as large lecture hall settings. Eligibility for faculty veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama is also required.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching and clinical service. Teaching responsibilities include the clinical and didactic instructional activities of the professional veterinary medicine and postgraduate training programs related to cardiology. Clinical service and research responsibilities are negotiable and will depend on the successful candidate’s interests and the type of appointment (i.e., clinical vs. tenure track appointment). If the candidate desires the Professor of Practice position, the position will have a 0.6 FTE of clinical service with 0.4 of the year for telemedicine with a telemedicine company of their choice.
The cardiology service is equipped with GE Vivid E9 echocardiography with transthoracic and trans-esophageal capabilities, EchoPAC digital database and review station, Philips Pagewriter TC 50 ECG, digital telemetry, Medtronic Lifepak 20 biphasic defibrillator, digital Holter units, and Medtronic and St. Jude pacemaker programmers. The service has a dedicated stand-alone interventional technique and catheterization laboratory that is extensively equipped with Biopac hemodynamic monitoring system, a GE Nuboom surgical imaging system, and a GE OEC 9900 digital fluoroscopy C-arm for minimally invasive procedures. Other services available in the hospital include digital radiography, ultrasonography, nuclear medicine, 64-slice CT, 3T MRI, video endoscopy, Varian Edge™ linear accelerator, and radiotherapy facilities. There is a full time dedicated technician for the cardiology clinical service.
The College of Veterinary Medicine is located on the edge of the Auburn University campus, in the east central Alabama community of Auburn- Opelika.
