Small Animal Internal Medicine Resident
Salary - £23,933 p.a
The Animal Health Trust is a charitable organisation aiming to fight disease and injury in companion animals. The small animal clinic is dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care, and has an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training (internships, residencies and PhDs). The medicine group works closely with our specialists from other disciplines, including anaesthesia, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, physiotherapy and surgery. On site we have CT, fluoroscopy, 1.5T MRI, HD videoendoscopy and a linear accelerator. The pathology and clinical pathology laboratories on site complement the clinical services and enable us to offer a full on-site diagnostic service. Additionally, the AHT has a number of research groups and an equine referral clinic with opportunities for collaborative work.
The Small Animal Internal Medicine Team currently consists of 3 clinicians, 4 residents and a dedicated nursing team. One of our team will complete his residency in October and so we have a vacancy for a resident in our Small Animal Internal Medicine department. Start date is by negotiation but aimed to be late 2019. This is a 3 year programme, approved by ECVIM, involving primary care of small animal internal medicine and oncology cases, under the supervision of ACVIM/ECVIM diplomates. Additionally the programme involves rotations with other specialty services, weekly journal clubs and seminars and a requirement for clinical research leading to publication. The candidate will be expected to participate in an out of hours rota providing care for medicine and oncology emergencies and inpatients.
We are looking for individuals who share our objectives of providing the highest quality patient and client care, working as part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team, and who has an interest in contributing to our ongoing training and clinical research programmes. In addition to the extensive on-site diagnostic facilities, we are able to offer a very friendly and rewarding work environment. Residency candidates must have completed a small animal rotating internship.
