ECVIM-CA residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine

An opportunity to train with an enthusiastic, experienced multidisciplinary team. Northwest Veterinary Specialists is an expanding, evolving referral hospital and part of a group including DWR and Anderson Moores. While growing to a team of over 100 colleagues, Northwest has retained a friendly working atmosphere.

The team of 3 medicine specialists and one board-eligible clinician in small animal medicine is complemented by specialists in soft tissue surgery, oncology, neurology, cardiology, orthopaedic surgery and anaesthesia, as well as a great team of diagnostic imagers, interns, nurses and animal care assistants.

Our facilities include on-site CT, MRI, three ultrasound machines, digital fluoroscopy, computed radiography and a good range of endoscopes.

Applicants must be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (or eligible for such) and should have completed a rotating internship or at least two years of small animal practice.  The successful applicant will be required to register as a resident with the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

As well as sharing the medicine team’s clinical caseload as part of the training programme, the resident will be expected to participate in journal clubs, seminars and CPD teaching. Externships in clinical pathology and diagnostic imaging are structured into the training programme, as well as attending and participating in ECVIM congress and other specialist meetings.

The applicant should be energetic, highly motivated and an excellent communicator.

The position is subject to a monitoring period of six months with additional annual review.

In addition to a generous salary, the resident will benefit from:

  •           Funded CPD

  •           RCVS and VDS fees paid
  •           Subsidised private health insurance
