Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES) is a hospital providing small animal specialist referral services in beautiful Perth, Western Australia.


We are currently seeking a locum in small animal internal medicine between October 2018 until November 2019 cover current staff maternity leave. Shorter locums for part of this period will be considered.


The position is full time which involves a four day week with a four day long weekend every second weekend allowing you ample time to explore the beautiful Western Australian coastline. You will be working with 2 other specialists in internal medicine and a team of four dedicated, fully trained and talented medicine nurses. The emergency service at WAVES is staffed by ACVECC specialists and highly experienced emergency veterinarians who provide out-of-hours care for medicine inpatients so there is no requirement for evening or weekend duties or on call in this role.


The hospital also provides specialist referral services in surgery, critical care, diagnostic imaging, dermatology and anaesthesia and encourages multi-disciplinary management of cases. Our state of the art 1400m2 facility features all the equipment needed to deliver the highest quality of care for patients including digital radiography, ECG, Holter monitoring, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, a full range of endoscopy equipment, in house 16 slice CT and an on-site 1.5 Tesla MRI.

The suitable applicant will hold or be eligible for ACVIM, ECVIM or FANZCVS in small animal internal medicine and hold a veterinary degree that registrable in Australia. Sponsorship to work in Australia will be provided if required.

WAVES is situated in Perth, Western Australia which is one of the most liveable cities in the world.
