The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) sits within the College of SHEE (Science, Health, Engineering and Education), a result of the restructure of the university in 2018. The SVM offers an internationally accredited BSc/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine course and is supported by more than 40 academics and other professional staff. The school has on campus access to farmland and close proximity to a major tertiary hospital precinct. 

The School is well resourced with research and teaching facilities and hosts a number of research groups and centres that align with the University strategy of Health Futures. 

The Role

This role will provide research, academic, clinical and administrative leadership to the Small Animal Medicine discipline, School and University The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate excellence in teaching, research, and professional activities including clinical service, as well as making a substantial contribution to the mentoring effort of the University and has a special responsibility to guide and develop the next generation of academic staff at Murdoch University. 

Skills and Experience

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A Specialty Board qualification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (e.g. Diplomate ECVIM-CA, Dip ACVIM or FANZCVS)
  • Extensive and substantial experience in training and supervision of students, interns and residents in companion animal medicine.
  • A track record of success in producing high quality independent research outputs that have national and/or international impact and influence.
  • A track record of success in attracting external competitive research funding that has national and/or international impact.
  • A high level of achievement in successfully supervising honours, Masters by Coursework, HDR and postgraduate students to completion.
