Resident in small animal medical oncology
(Margit-Bilik Residency Position)

 Start date: July 1st, 2008

 The 3 year program is currently under the supervision of 2 ECVIM-CA Diplomates in Oncology and one board-eligible oncologist. Further Diplomates (Internal Medicine, Neurology, Anaesthesiology, Ophthalmology) are also active on site.

The program encompasses responsibility for oncology and internal medicine cases, rotations in related specialties, participation in congresses, performance of a residency research project and active participation in journal clubs in oncology and internal medicine, as well as joint pathology-medicine / oncology rounds. External rotations in radiology, intensive care medicine and oncologic surgery are also incorporated into the program. The resident will work towards the ECVIM-CA (oncology) examination.

The resident will also be involved in clinical teaching of students and interns. He/she will take part in the primary emergency duty of the hospital.

The hospital has state-of-the-art equipment including in-house laboratory and cytology, endoscopy, ultrasound, digital radiography, CT, MRI, scintigraphy and access to a radiation therapy unit.

 Applicants must have successfully completed a 12-month rotating internship or have gained equivalent experience during one to two years in small animal practice.

The successful candidate will need to have at least basic knowledge of the German language, and be willing to improve this language skill in order to be able to communicate with clients and colleagues.
